Feliz cinco de mayo!!!
Sounds like your week was fairly
normal. A lot of soccer so that's always fun. :) This week went pretty well I
guess. I learned how to juggle!! Haha it took about 20 minutes and now I do it
all the time. :P haha it was fun. We didn't end up moving yet. We don't know
when it will happen. We should find out today. (found out, yes moving
today, don’t know new address)
The zone Pday went well. We just
played different games and kind of hung out. It was nice. :) it was super hot
though and we had to wear jeans. We will be skyping sometime after 2. We will
get out of church at 1 and have lunch then come back and Skype. I'm honestly
not sure, but around then. Are you guys free then? That is like 12 your time.
We will just Skype from the iPad here at the church so that will be nice.
:)
So, spiritual experience for this
week is going to cover a couple days. Saturday we had the cultural celebration
for the temple and then on Sunday we had the dedication as well as a CES
fireside. It was an overload of apostles outside of general conference! Haha it
was awesome though! So the cultural celebration was pretty cool. All the youth
in the temple district got to participate. There were youth from our ward in
it. It was cool. Parts were kind of cheesy, but it was kind of cool. But the
end was the coolest part! There was a slideshow of a ton of pictures that
people had sent in of them at a temple and they took all of these pictures and
made a huge picture of Jesus Christ! It looked super awesome!! And then, of
course, the dedication was amazing! We went to the first session so we saw the
corner stone ceremony. It was cool. President Walker wasn't there though. But
president Uchtdorf and Elder Christopherson were there. Everyone was super
excited to finally have a temple in south Florida. :) I really miss the temple
and so it was nice to be able to see the dedication and feel the spirit of it
even though we can't go there. And then, the CES fireside was really good too.
Elder Ballard spoke to the YSA all about technology. It was super awesome. One
of the main things he focused on was that even though the apostles are old and
people don't think they understand, they do understand. He went through and
named off basically everything that people use to communicate. Text, FB,
twitter, google +, snapchat, Instagram, Pinterest, Etc... It was cool. He
taught about how they can be good, but also bad. He took a little different
view on it though than we are used to. He focused a lot on how this technology
is taking over and we don't have as much quiet time anymore. This is like what
you said that Lisa shared. Technology is taking over and there really isn't
much time for the quiet. So he challenged everyone to search for quiet time
where we can really feel the spirit. I invite each of you to go on lds.org and watch it. It was really
good.
This week is going to be a little
different. I will give you guys the scripture, but I am making you work. :) The
scripture this week is Alma 36: 24. This is really focusing on conversion. We
need to help other people come unto Christ right? But, what about ourselves?
Are we truly converted? Do we have that joy in our lives? And if so, do we
truly have a yearning to share it with others? Do we understand that they are
our brothers and sisters and that we have what they need? Are we willing to put
our doubts and fears aside to go out and share the gospel with the people in
our lives? Or are we too scared of what their answer might be? I want you to
answer these questions and read the scripture.
I love you all!! I am so grateful
for all of your support and help! Your Heavenly Father loves each of you more
than you can imagine. Have a great week!!
Love,
Elder Moyes
